Context for Learning

The whole school context is Change in Time and in Year 2/3 we are investigating:

How Does Life Change Over Time?

This term, we will explore how life has changed over the years by comparing the past with the present. We will learn about everyday life long ago and consider how it differs from the way we live today. As part of our learning, we will study the Romans in Britain and visit Caerleon Roman Museum to enrich our understanding through real-life experiences.

Our learning will focus on two key questions:

• How have homes changed over time?
• How have inventions changed the way we live?

Through exploring these questions, we will discover how people, places and technology have changed over time and how these changes continue to influence our lives today.

Homework

A homework grid has been sent home to support our topic, Change in Time. Each week, children should choose one activity from the grid to complete. These activities are designed to reinforce classroom learning while encouraging creativity and independence.

In addition, weekly reading books, matched to your child's reading level, will be sent home. Please support your child with their reading as often as possible. Children will also bring home a book of their choice from our lending library, which they can enjoy reading with you for pleasure. These books will be changed every Friday.

Pupils also have access to Sumdog, a fun online learning platform that helps children practise their maths skills through interactive games and challenges. Login details can be found in your child's homework book.

Hwb login details are also included in homework books. Children can use Hwb both in school and at home to complete activities, access learning materials and develop their digital skills in a safe online environment.
