Fairoak Primary School

  • Reception - Mrs Williams & Mrs Weston

A very warm welcome back to a brand-new year at Fairoak Primary. We hope you all had a restful break. We’re raring to go and excited for the wonderful learning ahead — including some fantastic new changes coming to our outdoor learning environment!

We work closely as a team across both Reception classes, and all children will have the opportunity to learn with every member of staff each week.

    Topic

🌿 Our Spring Topic: Roots, Shoots and Muddy Boots

This term we’ll be exploring: – Growing – plants, seeds and how things change. Belonging – friendships, community and feeling part of our school - Investigating the world – exploring nature, weather, the changing seasons and the outdoors We’ll be spending lots of time outside, so please ensure children come to school in coats and sensible shoes every day — we are explorers on a daily basis! We do go out whatever the weather so if you would like to send wellies and waterproofs you are welcome to do so. We do have a supply but sometimes children prefer their own. Please make sure children's clothes are clearly labelled and encourage children to take responsibility for their belongings, e.g., ask them to carry their own bags or fetch their own scarf and gloves. This helps children take care of their things and reduces the number of items being lost.

    Homework

    🌿 Reading Bags and Homework

Reading books and homework will be sent home every Friday. Please make sure book bags are in school on Fridays so we can change books and prepare new activities. Sometimes homework will be practical activities or games to play and we will use Seesaw platform to send this home. There is a QR code in your child’s home learning book for this.

    Useful Information, Resources/Links

    P.E. Days

PE days for both classes will alternate between Mondays (week 2) and Thursdays (week 3). To help children move freely and independently, please ensure they wear:
    - Comfortable clothes
    - Shoes they can pull on and off themselves

Please encourage your child to practise putting on their own socks and shoes at home to support independence in school.

    🌿 Communication- Class Dojo

Our main communication platform is Class Dojo, where we regularly post updates, reminders and photos of our learning. You will find the QR login codes attached for both classes. You only need to join the class your child lines up with each morning.
