Croeso i Ddosbarth Mynydd!

My name is Miss Watson, and I am the class teacher.

We work together every day, with the other Year 6 class and enjoy learning together as part of the wider Year 6 team.

We can’t wait to see what we can achieve together this year and look forward to lots of exciting learning ahead.

Looking Ahead

This term, Year 6 will be learning about Changes in Time.

What We Will Be Learning

Through history, discussion and enquiry, children will explore how significant events create change for people, places and communities and how these events can have immediate and lasting consequences and the impact these changes have on people's lives.

We will also be exploring changes in time through our Science and Technology learning.  Exploring how big events can force scientists to invent new things and how these have shaped our future. We will explore and consider how scientific inventions in history didn't disappear – they changed and adapted.

Educational Visits

We are lucky to have the University of South Wales visiting us on Friday 6th November to deliver Tinkercad workshops to the children. Following on from our workshop, we will be visiting the University of South Wales on Friday 20th November, where pupils will be able to see designs they created in their workshop being 3D printed.

Further details about the trip will be shared closer to the time.

Homework

  • Children are encouraged to read at home regularly with a parent or carer. Please ask your child questions about their reading to support comprehension.
  • Children are encouraged to access Sumdog weekly at home to practice their Mathematics skills.
